Ghana, the first black African nation to gain its independence from colonial rule, celebrated 64 years of independence on 6th March 2021.
On 6 March 1957, Ghana’s founding president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, declared: “at long last, Ghana your beloved country is free forever” to the excitement of men, women and children gathered at the old Polo grounds in Accra.
However, has Ghana lived up to her name as the ‘black star of Africa’?
Many people have raised concerns over numerous challenges bedeviling the country such as unemployment, proper health care, insecurity, rule of law, economic hardship among others.
Some Ghanaians diaspora in South Africa and other continents who wish to return to Ghana for settlement in an interview with thepressradio.com bemoaned over the state of Ghana and called for policy implementations to enhance development.
